Dr. Prasad Gourineni recommends urgent lavage of septic arthritis at any age. Arthroscopic lavage is more efficient than open lavage for a thorough irrigation. The technique does not require traction or any disposable instruments.
Technique
- 1 The needle enters the joint at the middle of the anterolateral neck, and slid across the anterior neck
- 2 Alternating inflow and outflow through the same cannula fills and sucks out the joint with just one portal
- 3 At the end of the case, the drain is put in through the cannula and held in place while the cannula is pulled out
